I have built some of my own brushes, but getting them like you want can be challenging and your brushes are usually what I am trying to get and they work great.
I have two art pens. When I am working primarily with two brushes, which I find I do often, I select one variant for one art pen and the other variant for the other art pen. (This works with grip pens, too) The pens remember what variant you were using, and unless you go back to the Brush selector with that pen and select another variant, it will not change to another variant. That means I can have two pens in front of me and can pick the one up that I want to useit seems quicker to me and more natural. And, remember those colored rings that come with the pens. You put those on the pens so you will be able to tell at a glance which pen is which. It’s really pretty awesome.

There are two options for using the brushes in Photoshop, the Brush Tool and the Mixer Brush Tool. The Brush Tool options provide ways of applying color. The Mixer Brush Tool options offer ways of applying color and then blending it. During the painting process it sometimes becomes necessary to rebalance the values in the painting. Some areas get over painted, sometimes colors need to be altered and sometimes one area gets too dark or too light. Both programs offer the ability to Dodge and Burn and alter colors but it’s my experience that Adobe Photoshop does this faster and with more control and more accuracy. It’s not unusual for me to pop a painting in progress into Photoshop for some light painting using Screen and Multiply adjustment layers with masks or adding specific colors using the Brush Tool in Color mode.
As a professional digital artist, I use Corel Painter for drawing and painting, and Adobe Photoshop for photo retouching, image adjustments, and making composites. I do not feel inconvenienced moving from one program to the other. In my opinion, the process of painting in Adobe Photoshop is more of an imaging experience while with Corel Painter you get more of an organic painting experience.

Hello Everyone, I know I promised to do another video on cloning and I will, but I realized that I need to make the brushes that I am using available to everyone. I am making the Papers available, too. Please note: the brushes and the papers will only work in Painter 12. Some of the variants will work with earlier versions, but not in this set. I will need to separate them from the Real Watercolor variants. I will see what I can do.
One thing is certain, though – the statement, “You can do the same thing in either program” isn’t exactly true. Wish I could give you more information, but I’m afraid I don’t have the expertise. Hey Ron, Actually on a PC all you need is Ctrl + A + Backspace. You do not need to do Ctrl + D to remove the Marquee, it is removed automatically with that sequence. If however, you have added a shortcut key to Clear and use that, you would need to do Ctrl + A + Clear + Ctrl + D. I have added a bunch of shortcut keys to Painter so that I can use my radial menu exclusively.
