Slick Rick always manages to stay entertaining with a variety of stories. The Bomb Squad, I believe, produces some of the songs on here, who is very underappreciated on this subreddit. Overall, this album is a must listen classic which is one of the best 80s hip hop albums I've heard. You won't be disappointed. Bought the cd and gave it a listen yesterday. I knew he was the creator of Children's Story that Blackstar referenced and The Rulers Back thay Jay Z references but didn't realize he did 'the world is yours' so that's cool. His story telling ability is fantastic, his flow engages you so well that you keep up with the story.

Maybe because that kind of flow and intonation has become synonymous with 'White Politician tries to rap to appeal to a demographic', but my brain can't listen to Slick Rick anymore without being reminded of two decades of bad parodies. His storytelling is second-to-none, his persona reminds me so much of Rick Flair, and the sound is good for what it is, but man, it's been ruined for me and I hate that. I first got this album around 2008, when I was around 15. Obviously it sounds completely different to anything that's dropped since I've been a hip-hop fan, and Slick Rick was an absolute revelation to me. I've never replayed rap music just to figure out what happened in a story before.
